Walter F. Hurst 1936 - 2009

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Walter F. Hurst, 73, died April 24 at his home in North Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 4, 1936, at Great Bend, the son of William “Tim” and Hilda Trauer Hurst. He was a 1954 graduate of Great Bend High School. He was a typesetter, having worked for the Great Bend Tribune, Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph and the Las Vegas Review Journal. He was a resident of Las Vegas, Nev., since 1989, coming from Colorado Springs, Colo.

Mr. Hurst was a member of the Argonne Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps in the 1950s.

Survivors include one son, Michael; one sister, Dorothy “Dot” Tournear, Great Bend; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Hurst.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, with family to receive friends from 7 to 8 at the funeral home. Stacy M. Ferguson 1958 - 2009

Stacy M. Ferguson, 50, of Great Bend, died April 27 at her residence. She was born Aug. 26, 1958, at El Dorado, the daughter of Charles and Sybil Gallagher Dole. She married Darwin Ferguson on Sept. 24, 1988, at Great Bend. He survives. She was a homemaker and a resident of Great Bend since 1988, coming from Larned.

Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, of the home, include three sons, Israel Barrera of Wichita, and Derrick Ferguson and Dustin Ferguson, both of Great Bend; two daughters, Amber Laube and Brandy Ferguson, both of Wichita; two brothers, Mike Dole of Plummer, Idaho, and Hank Dole of Wenatchee, Wash.; two sisters, Jennifer Dole-Koopman of Kennewick, Wash., and Charlene Agripino of Benton, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, Noel, Britny, Nick, Sebastian, Ariel, Jaydan, Blake, Breckyn, Gavin, Haylee and Baby Fergy. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mark Dole.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with Pastor Stuart Ortmann officiant. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Leonard A. Dick 1924 - 2009

Leonard A. Dick, 84, died April 27 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. Born May 16, 1924, in Penalosa, he was the son of Bernard and Anna Depenbusch Dick. A longtime resident of the Zenda and Spivey communities, moving to Great Bend in 1993, he was a retired farmer. He married Dorothy E. Rohling on Nov. 23, 1948, in Garden Plain. She survives.

Mr. Dick was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend, a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member, and a member of the Willowdale Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, David, Ronald, Dennis and Leon; six daughters, Carolyn Kern, Shirley Gustafson, Elaine Robinson, Betty Andrews, Jane Jones and Joyce Holiday; five brothers, Alfred, Henry, Paul, Martin and Daniel; three sisters, Angeline Ingram, Lucille Sheahan and Doreen Reida; 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Sylvester, and a grandson, Mathew Gustafson.

Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Livingston Funeral Home in Kingman. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Catholic Church in Zenda. Burial will be at the St. John Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Virginia Marie Hayes 1921 - 2009

Virginia Marie Hayes, 88, of Great Bend, died April 28 at Alterra Sterling House of Great Bend. She was born March 29, 1921, in Barton County, the daughter of Edward C. and Myrtle M. Pettit Koopman. She married Walter W. Hayes on Nov. 14, 1941, at Great Bend. He died Jan. 10, 1977. She was a former library assistant in Elkhart and a clerk for the Barton County Treasurer’s Office. She was a resident of Great Bend most of her life.

Mrs. Hayes was a member of First United Methodist Church, UMW, and American Legion Argonne Post 180 Auxiliary, all of Great Bend.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Rensch and husband Brent of Great Bend; one brother, Ed L. Koopman of Great Bend; two grandchildren, Amber Brokar and husband Jeremy and Megan Rensch, all of Wichita; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Caden Brokar.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Gary Brooks officiant. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Earlin P. Nuss 1929 - 2009

RUSSELL — Earlin P. Nuss, 80, of Russell died April 25 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. Earlin was born March 16, 1929, in Russell County, the son of Edward and Amelia (Karst) Nuss. Earlin was united in marriage to Deloris Keil on April 19, 1959, in Milberger. This union was blessed with two children, Keith and Kathy. He grew up in the Milberger area. He graduated from Russell High School in 1947. Earlin served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service he returned to the Milberger and Russell area where he lived all of his life.

Earlin was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He also was a motor grader operator for Lincoln Township. Later in life he was a contract pumper for MG Oil.

Mr. Nuss was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. He also belonged to the American Legion Post No. 99 and was a life member of Russell VFW Post No. 6240.

Earlin was a Christian man who believed in hard work and taking care of his family. One of the greatest loves was his grandchildren; he received such joy in watching them grow up.

Family he leaves behind include his wife of 50 years, Deloris, of the home; a son, Keith Nuss and wife Tambra of Milberger; a daughter, Kathy Axman and husband Joe of Olmitz; twin brother, Eugene Nuss and brother, Leland Nuss, both of Russell; sister, Ruth Mai of Russell; and six grandchildren, triplets Aaron, Jacob and Jared Nuss, Stephanie Nuss, Justin Axman and Jenifer Axman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delmar.

Celebration of Earlin’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Interment will follow at the Russell City Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Memorials have been established with St. John Lutheran Church or Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240. Donald C. Tiday 1918 - 2009

LARNED — Donald C. Tiday, 90, died April 23 at Sedgwick Healthcare Center in Sedgwick. Born July 31, 1918, in Pawnee County, he was the son of Dudley D. and Fannie (Hollenbeck) Tiday. He graduated from Larned High School in 1936. On Aug. 18, 1951, he married Betty Shipley. She survives. He was a longtime resident of Larned and retired employee of Larned State Hospital.

Mr. Tiday served with the Armed Forces during World War II.

Other survivors include two daughters, Dee Tiday of Overland Park and Carol Mattson of Sedgwick; two sons, Dale Tiday of Sedgwick and Darrell Tiday of Larned; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Dean Tiday, and a sister, Beulah Adams.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned, with the Rev. Mark Slattery presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. Geraldine M. Buehler 1923 - 2009

Geraldine M. Buehler, 86, of Great Bend, died April 26 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. She was born Feb. 25, 1923, at Ellinwood, the daughter of Joseph M. and Mary (Mamie) Heinz Hammeke. She married Paul Buehler on Feb. 4, 1946, at Ellinwood. He died Nov. 4, 1997. She worked for the Great Bend Air Base from 1943 to 1946 for the Signal Corps and formerly was a buyer for King Soopers. She was a resident of Great Bend since 2004, coming from Golden, Colo., where she had lived for the previous 50 years.

Mrs. Buehler was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and its Altar Society.

Survivors include one brother, Alfred J. Hammeke of Claflin; and 17 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman Hammeke, Dennis Hammeke and Father Gerald Hammeke.

An Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Reginald A. Urban officiant. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sts. Gina Michelle Tabler-Crowe 1964 - 2009

LARNED — Gina Michelle Tabler-Crowe, 45, passed away at her home in rural Larned on April 25. Gina was born Jan. 4, l964, in Eau Claire, Wis., the first-born of Charles “Buddy” and Judith Jorstad Tabler. A life-long resident of Larned, she was a homemaker and caretaker.

Gina was a prolific writer for The Tiller and Toiler newspaper in Larned and she loved making people laugh.

On October 5, 1998, she married James Crowe at Garfield. He survives.

Gina was a Christian and had grown deeply in her faith.

She loved to cook. She had a lifetime passion for horses and other animals and was especially close to her paternal grandparents, Vane and Arnita Tabler.

Other survivors include a son, Logan Reynolds, of Billings, Mont.; a daughter, Lorrie Ann Cantrell, of Austin, Texas; parents, of Larned; a sister, Jennifer Lemuz, Hays; two brothers, Jonathan Tabler, Overland Park, and Jacob Tabler, Hays; and she leaves many friends.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Iva Mae Smith presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery. Janice Fae Duncan 1941 - 2009

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Janice Fae Duncan, 67, died April 17. Born Nov. 18, 1941 in Seward, she was the daughter of Roy and Corneila McBride. She grew up in Kansas and graduated from St. John High School and Salt City Business College. A resident of the the Oklahoma City, Okla., area for 30 years, she was retired from Southwest Integris.
Surviors include her children, Daria Rollans, Michael Duncan, Janna Aranda, Toni Burke and Darrell Duncan; three sisters, Jenny Walker, Carol Gingrich and Joyce Turner; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne, a son, David, and a brother, Allen.
Funeral service was Tuesday, April 21, at Sunny Lane Chapel. Burial was at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the diabetes foundation of the donor’s choice.

Dorothy Spring Craig 1908 - 2008

TOPEKA — Dorothy (Wilson) Spring Craig, 100, died April 23 at Topeka. She was born June 8, 1908, at Stanley in Johnson County. The daughter of W.D. and Nora (Allen) Wilson, she graduated from Stanley High School and Central Business College of Kansas City.
On June 8, 1928, she married Glenn W. Spring at Kansas City. He died April 15, 1966. On Jan. 14, 1975, she married Charles E. Craig at Bartow, Fla. He died Aug. 21, 1993. She formerly worked at the Stafford County Treasurer’s Office and also the probate judge’s office.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Mother’s Club, both of St. John.
Survivors include one son, Donald K. Spring of Topeka, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Richard W. Spring, preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2000.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with the Rev. Dave Campbell presiding. Burial will be in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in care of Minnis Chapel.

Lorene E. Fuzzell 1919 - 2009

HALSTEAD — Funeral services for Lorene E. Fuzzell, 89, of Halstead, formerly of Plainville, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton with the Rev. Julie Shields officiating. Mrs. Fuzzell passed away April 24 at the Halstead Health & Rehabilitation in Halstead. She was born Dec. 11, 1919, near Webster, the daughter of Fred and Lucille (Stice) Dillon. She graduated from Webster High School in 1937. On April 4, 1948, she married Wayne Fuzzell in Nowata, Okla. He passed away March 11, 1995.
Mrs. Fuzzell was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Plainville and enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading.
Survivors include her daughters, Ellen Marlene and husband Don Aipperspach of Wichita, and Julie Shields of Great Bend; sons, Larry and wife Pat LeSage of Blackwell, Okla., Russell and wife Valerie Fuzzell of Plainville and David and wife Laura Fuzzell of Great Bend; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Leon LeSage, brothers Austin Dillon and Keith Dillon and sisters Mary Cottom, Dorthea Byrd and Ruth Biery.
Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Stockton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Kansas in Newton and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at over@ruraltel.net.

Blaze Lance Wegele 1962 - 2009

BELLA VISTA, Ark. — Blaze Lance Wegele, 47, died April 19 near Kingman, Ariz. He was born Feb. 28, 1962, in Great Bend, the son of Leslie V. and Doris Ann (Cromer) Wegele. On Dec. 20, 1986, he married Dena Bowers at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pratt.

Blaze was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Bentonville, Ark., and the Lions Club in Pratt. He was the former owner and operator of Wegele & Wegele Van Lines in Pratt and was a former railroad conductor/engineer for B.N.S.F. He enjoyed woodworking and working on his antique cars.

Survivors include his wife Dena, son Tanner Blaze Wegele, daughter Shurelle Nichole Wegele and mother Doris Ann Wegele of Pratt. He was preceded in death by his dad, Leslie V., and a brother, Jeffrey Ronson Wegele.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Larrison Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pratt with Pastor Todd Jones and Associate Pastor Terry Held presiding. Burial will be in Maud Cemetery in Cunningham. Melvin L. Brady 1944 - 2009

ELLINWOOD — Melvin L. Brady, 65, died April 23 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born Jan. 9, 1944, at Syracuse, the son of Charles and Ruby Bitner Brady. He married Kay White on March 28, 1963, in Lyons. They later divorced. He had lived in Ellinwood 12 years and was formerly of Chase. He was a retired oil-field mechanic and superintendent.

Mr. Brady was a member of the Baptist Church of Chase.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Brady of Chase and David Brady of Pratt; three brothers, Francis Brady and Gary Brady, both of Chase, and Charles Brady of Valley Center; two sisters, Jean Lovaas and Anita Sheridan, both of Raymond; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Michael Scott Brady.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Johnnie Hardie officiating. Burial will be in the Chase Springdale Cemetery at Chase. Mary E. Wohlcke 1926 - 2009

HOISINGTON — Mary E. Wohlcke, 82, died April 21 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Sept. 16, 1926, in Ozark, Ark., she was the daughter of Opert and Elta Mae (Vernon) Anderson. She married Andrew Wohlcke on Sept. 4, 1948, in Ozark, Ark. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1990. A Hoisington resident since 1965, she was a retired cashier from Sears in Great Bend.

Mrs. Wohlcke was a former member of the Trinity Baptist Church where she was very active, including teaching Sunday school.

Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Wilton and husband Larry of Hoisington; two sons, Tom Wohlcke and Fred Wohlcke, both of Hoisington; a sister, Kate Goodwin of Ozark, Ark.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Anderson; and two sisters, Frances Sowell and Gladys Brown.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hoisington Cemetery with the Rev. John Grummon officiating. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Jill Dresker Martin Check 1950 - 2009

HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — Jill Dresker Martin Check, of Harrisonville, Mo., was born Aug. 13, 1950, in Overland Park. She was the daughter of Paul Martin and Jean Wooten. She departed this life Tuesday, April 21, at her home in Harrisonville at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 8 days. On Nov. 25, 1967, Jill was united in marriage to Dwight Edmund Check at Olathe. Jill and Dwight moved to Harrisonville in 1972 and in 1975 bought their dream house, a Victorian home on East Pearl Street. For the next 34 years, they worked together as a team to remodel and bring that home to the show place it is today. Jill and Dwight raised three daughters in that home.

Jill volunteered at the Harrisonville Schools and spent countless hours taking care of sick children in the health room. Her love of medicine and helping people steered her to a long career in health-care services. She had a strong desire to serve her community and in 1996 she campaigned for a seat on the Harrisonville Board of Aldermen. She was successful and dedicated her service to the city for 11 years.

Mrs. Check was a member of the Harrisonville Mennonite Church and had a deep love for the small care group that she and Dwight attended weekly.

Jill is survived by her husband of 42 years, Dwight; three daughters, Lisa Marie Kohman and her husband Jim of Great Bend, Melissa Madeline Dorazil and her husband Dan of Huntley, Ill., and Susan Gail Caldwell and her husband James of Pueblo, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, and Nick Kohman; Matthew, Kristin and Nathan Dorazil; and Jessie and Mandy Caldwell. Also, her mother-in-law Madeline Check of Freeman, Mo.; her brother, Paul Martin of Shawnee; Captain Nemo of Harrisonville and other relatives and a host of friends. Jill will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harrisonville Mennonite Church with inurnment in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Life Choice Center for Women. Dennis M. Simmons 1946 - 2009

RADIUM — Dennis M. Simmons, 63, died April 21 in Stafford County. He was born Feb. 28, 1946, in San Francisco, Calif., the son of Howard E. and Ethel King Simmons. He married Susan Dewey on March 26, 1977, at Pampa, Texas. She survives. He was an oil-field truck driver, Stafford County firefighter and fire chief of Radium. He was a resident of Radium since 1999, coming from Great Bend. He was a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army.

Mr. Simmons was a member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, an avid NASCAR fan and a former state-champion stock car driver. He was known to have many interests, including horses and motorcycles. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Simmons, of the home; two sons, Phillip Simmons and wife Jackie of Gibson, La., and Harold Simmons and fianceé Aliaza of Belton, Mo.; one daughter, Brandie McKay and husband Bill of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one brother, Dale Simmons of Vacaville, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Jessica Simmons, Kristopher Simmons, Brandon Simmons, Ashley Simmons, Tre Simmons and Cale McKay. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Simmons.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas National Guard, Topeka, and fire department honors will also be conducted. Burial will be at a later date. Floetta Mae Fairbrother 1920 - 2009

HUTCHINSON — Floetta Mae Fairbrother, 88, died April 20 at Hutchinson Good Samaritan Center. She was born May 27, 1920, in Meade, the daughter of Alva and Maggie Heironimus Marshall. She was a graduate of Hoisington High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Theis Packing, Great Bend. A resident of Hutchinson since 2006, she had previously lived in Great Bend.

Ms. Fairbrother was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and a bowling league, both in Great Bend.

Survivors include one brother, Albert Marshall, Wichita; two sisters, Juanita Lanham and Mary Ann Cortner, both of Hutchinson, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James and Robert Marshall, and two nieces.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Mike Hambley presiding. Raymond J. Francis 1926 - 2009

SUGAR CREEK, Mo. — Raymond J. Francis, 83, of Sugar Creek, died April 14. Services were conducted Friday at Mt. Washington Mausoleum Chapel, Independence, Mo. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday, with private interment.

Mr. Francis was born April 13, 1926, in Redwing, the son of Anthony and Veronica (Meyeres) Francis. He served in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Atlantic Pacific Service Medal and the Philippine Liberation Service Medal with one Bronze Star.

Mr. Francis was a life member of VFW Post No. 3976 and American Legion Post No. 340. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He retired from Vendo Corporation after 30 years of employment there.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Coburn, and two sons, Dan Francis and Ray A. Francis, all of Independence, Mo.; three sisters, Margaret Gates of Wilmington, N.C., Delores Westbrook of Augusta and Joan Krier of Holyrood; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. GARDEN CITY — Norman Eugene “Gene” Becker, 82, of Garden City, died April 20 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. He was born May 21, 1926, in Garden City, the son of Alfred L. and Maude E. (Oldfather) Becker. On Sept. 19, 1951, he married Margaret Katherine Becker in Garden City. Norman was a lifetime resident of Garden City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After the service, he returned to Garden City. He was a lifetime farmer, stockman and businessman. He enjoyed his work and family.

Mr. Becker was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, No. 2795, both of Garden City.

Survivors include four sons, William Becker, Robert Becker, James Becker and David Becker, all of Garden City; five daughters, Patricia Schiffelbein of Dodge City, Wanda Marques of Coventry, R.I., Kathryn Goad of Great Bend, and Elizabeth Fine and Donna Mastin, both of Garden City; two brothers, Alfred Becker of Holcomb and Danny Becker of Garden City; a sister, Janet Hansel of Flint, Mich.; 17 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, who died July 31, 1999, and by his parents, one brother and six sisters.

A vigil service and rosary will take place at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Father Trong Tran as celebrant. LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — Dessie Reba Beebe, 94, died April 20 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. Born July 14, 1914, in Spavinaw, Okla., she was the daughter of Henry Hansford and Goldie Spencer Chandler. She was a resident of Lake Elsinore, Calif. On Oct. 19, 1929, she married Veltie Beebe in Claremore, Okla.

Survivors include a son, Lee Beebe of Norwalk, Calif.; a daughter, Thelma Noblitt of Great Bend; a sister, Thelma Frye of Andover; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Veltie; two sons, Jimmy and Hank; and a daughter, Lois Merritt.

OLATHE — Samuel Edwin Weeks, 17, of Olathe, passed away April 19 at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe. He enjoyed playing for wedding dances and dancing with his wife. He was an avid basketball fan and Barton Community College fan. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and his work with the Girl Scouts of America.

Survivors include four sons, John Herl and wife Bernadean, Jim Herl and wife Tammy and Jerry Herl, all of Great Bend, and Joe Herl and wife Rena of Meeker, Colo.; three daughters, Vickie Herl of Great Bend, Valerie Hartle and husband Allen of Baytown, Texas, and Vanessa McCormick and husband Mike of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Melvin Herl of Hays; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Faye Mildred Stephens 1923 - 2009

KINCAID — Faye Mildred Stephens, 86, of Kincaid, died April 18 in Hutchinson. She was born March 1, 1923, at Udall, the daughter of Howard and Lila (Adams) Stout. The family later moved to the Stout home place southwest of Udall until 1934, when they moved to the Douglass community. Two years later they moved near Atlanta, Kan., then back to the Douglass area. Faye attended high school in Augusta. At the beginning of her senior year she met Ira Stephens Jr., and later married him on June 6, 1942. Ira served in the Air Force for almost three years; during this time, Faye followed him to South Dakota, and later to California in 1944, where they lived for 14 months before he left for overseas duty. On July 14, 1944, a baby girl, Casandra, was born in Fresno, Calif. Ira returned home in May of 1946. The family moved to Oklahoma following his time in the service. They remained in Oklahoma until September 1947, when Ira’s work took him to Great Bend. In 1948 a son, Ira Stephens III, was born. In 1950 they had a baby girl, Chris Dian, who died at birth. Faye and Ira moved to the farm north and east of Kincaid in 1975, after Ira’s retirement.

Faye was baptized into the Baptist Church in 1951 and later moved her letter to the Selma Methodist Church. After moving to the farm, Faye joined or transferred her Eastern Star membership from Great Bend to Kincaid, where she was still a member of Chapter 455. She was a charter member of the Tuesday Study Club of Kincaid. She always helped at the fair in the canning department and helped on Saturday with the VFW dinners.

She is survived by her children and their families, son, Steve Stephens and wife Marlene of Kincaid; daughter, Casandra Steele and husband Tommy of Pratt; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ardell Gimple of Douglass. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Wanda Biehler, and an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kincaid Selma United Methodist Church in Kincaid. Burial will follow in the Kincaid Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. TOPEKA — Thelma “LaMoyn” (Brethour) Trarbach, 79, of Topeka, formerly of Stockton, passed away on April 18 in Topeka. Born Nov. 25, 1929, in Marquette, she was the daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Anderson) Brethour. She was a graduate of Holyrood High School. On Nov. 12, 1955, she married August W. Trarbach. LaMoyn was a cook for the Stockton School District from 1984 to 1999.

Mrs. Trarbach was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hill City.

Survivors include a son, Terry Trarbach, and his wife, Nancy of Salina; a daughter, Torey Oberle, and her husband, Bob of Auburn; a son, Tony Trarbach, and his wife, Peggy of Ellinwood; and a daughter, Trudy Whitsell, and her husband, Frank of Topeka; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Vivi Helwig of Springfield, Mo., and Jana Atkinson of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 28, 1979; and by both parents; one sister, Saundra Kay Brethour; and one grandchild.

Jerry A. Krueger 1932 - 2009

Jerry A. Krueger, 77, of Great Bend, died April 19 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born April 8, 1932, at Great Bend, the son of Alfred and Lena Trauer Krueger. He married Sue McMillan on Sept. 28, 1964, at Las Vegas, Nev.

He was in sales, including Huber Janitorial Supplies and Little Debbie Snacks. He also co-owned and managed Al’s Drive-in. He was a resident of Great Bend most of his life. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War on the USS Heerman DD532.

Mr. Krueger was a member of the Church of God, American Legion Argonne Post 180 and VFW Post 3111. He loved to play the steel guitar and was a member of the Pacemakers during the ’60s and ’70s.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home; a son, Chris Krueger and wife Brenda, of Great Bend; a sister, Marvella Becker and husband Elmer of Great Bend; three grandchildren, Rebecca Lea Krueger of Westminster, Colo., Allen Christopher Krueger of Wichita and Scott Patrick Krueger of Hutchinson.

ELLINWOOD — Marian Southern, 88, died April 18 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in rural Ellinwood, the daughter of William Peter and Catherine Teresa Strothman Roth. She married Robert E. Southern on July 21, 1956, at Great Bend. He died Sept. 28, 1999.

She was a lifetime resident of Ellinwood, and a former partner in Yarn Plus, a retail yarn shop in Ellinwood. She also was retired from a position as teller at People’s State Bank in Ellinwood.

Mrs. Southern was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and its Altar Society in Ellinwood.

Survivors include four sons, James Hershey and wife Kehau of Kailua, Hawaii, Rob Southern and wife Kim, and Stephen Southern, all of Wichita, and Stuart Southern and wife Linda of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother, Don Roth of Ellinwood; a sister, Dorothy Dueser of Breckenridge, Texas; and eight grandchildren. Kevin Daniel Coleman Sr. 1975 - 2009

Kevin Daniel Coleman Sr., 34, of Great Bend, died April 15 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. Born Jan. 16, 1975, in Long Beach, Calif., he was the son of Daniel A. and Teresa Hanks Coleman. He was a resident of Great Bend since 2007, coming from Las Vegas, Nev., and Albuquerque, N.M. He married Jennifer Marie Manzano on Dec. 17, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. They later divorced.

Mr. Coleman was a United States Air Force veteran of 10 years, serving with the rank of tech sergeant, where he became disabled in June 2006.

Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Teresa Coleman of Great Bend; a daughter, Krystal Marie Coleman of the home; a son, Kevin Daniel Coleman Jr., of the home; a brother, Kurtis Coleman of Great Bend; grandparents, Joe Hanks of Great Bend and Mildred Coleman of Omaha, Neb.; fiancée Miranda Benson of the home; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Elda Jean Jordan

WICHITA — Elda Jean Jordan, 78, of Wichita, beloved wife, mother and friend, ended her earthly sojourn to be with Jesus, her Lord and Saviour, on April 16, at Lakewood Senior Living Center in Wichita. She was born near Zenith, the daughter of Harry and Nellie (Lofland) Clothier, and was a resident of Great Bend most of her life. She married Robert “Bob” Jordan on Sept. 3, 1949, at Wichita.

A member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker and had a daycare for more than 100 children for more than 35 years. Her passion was loving and nurturing her family and friends and she enjoyed crafts and oil painting. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and sweet spirit.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include daughters Rita (Henry) McVay, and Rhonda (Jack) Wilson, both of Wichita; son Rob Jordan of Iola; grandchildren Bree Downs, Randy McVay, Emily (Tanner) Norris, Molly (Chris) Malcom, Julia and Laura McVay, Jordan and Tara Wilson, Matt, Jeremy and Lindy Jordan and Rianne and Scout; great-grandchildren Chandler Downs, Mia McVay, Carly Espinosa, and Mason and Audrey Norris and many special nieces and nephews. LIBERAL — Gracie “Grace” Paulina Nance Wilson, 93, died April 15 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. She was born April 24, 1915, at Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Judd and Edith (Rollins) Radcliff. On Dec. 20, 1930, she married James Henry Nance in Beaver, Okla. He died in 1951. She had been a resident of Liberal for more than 20 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Christian Life Center in Liberal and the First Baptist Church of Forgan, Okla. Her hobbies were sewing, singing and going to church.

Survivors include three sons, George Henry Nance and wife Mary Lee of Ellinwood, Richard Willis Nance and wife Charlene of Topeka and the Rev. Carl Densel Nance and wife Joyce of Dodge City; a daughter, Beverly Ogletree and husband Stanley of Turpin, Okla.; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donahope Noble, three brothers, Elmo, Rolie Rush and Carl Radcliff; and three sisters, Gladys Forman, Bernice Andrews and Georgellen Bell.

Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Forgan, Okla., with the Rev. Carl Nance and the Rev. Todd Nance presiding. Burial was to be in Forgan Cemetery, Forgan, Okla. James "Jim" Woydziak 1944 - 2009

SUSANK — James “Jim” Woydziak, 65, died April 17 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born March 8, 1944, at Hoisington, the son of Arsenius and Mathilda (Hoffman) Woydziak. He married Sheridan Ann Miller, who preceded him in death on June 30, 1963. He married Mary Catherine Ryan on June 11, 1966, at Colby. She survives. He was a farmer/stockman and a lifetime resident of the Susank/Hoisington area.

Mr. Woydziak was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1521, of Hoisington.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Paul Woydziak and his wife, Michelle, of Hoisington; two daughters, Tamara Sanders and husband Don of Hoisington and Amanda Woydziak and her fiancé, Chris Gotts of Great Bend; a sister, Juanita Brower of Pampa, Texas; and nine grandchildren, Zane Sanders, Anthony Luerman, Zachary Sanders, Natalie “Alexis” Sanders, Zade Sanders, Cheyanne Sanders, Bailey Sanders, Ryan Woydziak and Wyatt Woydziak. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Woydziak, a daughter, Natalie Sue Luerman, and a brother, Bernard Woydziak.

A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, followed by a K of C rosary, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Rosalie May Bussen 1929 - 2009

GOODLAND — Rosalie May Bussen, 80, died April 16 at Good Samaritan Society in Goodland. She was born Jan. 3, 1929, to Clifford C. Ulrich and Edith A. (Thomas) Ulrich. She married Lawrence A. Bussen on Aug. 17, 1946, at St. Peter’s Parish in Wallace. He died July 20, 1991. A lifetime resident of Wallace, Winona and Sharon Springs, she was a homemaker, grocery clerk, bookkeeper for Busson & Sons Construction and a news reporter for the Western Times, Oakley Graphic and Colby Free Press.

Mrs. Bussen had been a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Wallace, St. Joseph’s in Oakley and Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Sharon Springs. She was a member of Altar Society, Busy Bee Club, Sharon Springs Senior Center, Legion of Mary Club and many quilting groups. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cards, family, attending sporting events and watching pro sports and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. Survivors include seven sons, Rodney Bussen and wife Carol of Wallace, David Bussen of Sedona, Ariz., Darius Bussen and Jo Hunter and Kevin Bussen, all of Sharon Springs, Daryl Bussen of Manhattan, Terrance Bussen of Goodland and Martin Bussen and wife Tammy of Mayetta; three daughters, Regina Madsen of EIizabeth, Colo., Diana Bauman and husband Bill of Wallace, and Cecelia Nicolet and husband Kenny of Great Bend; one sister, Twila Bowsher and husband Don of Great Bend; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Jacquetta McNett of Northridge, Calif., and Doris Flecnor of Hays, two grandsons, Tyler Bussen and Jacob Madsen, and two granddaughters, Monica Cloyd and Sonja Bauman.

Rosary will be at 5 p.m. today at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Sharon Springs. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday with Father Norbert Dlabal officiating. David J. Laudick 1948 - 2009

SCOTT CITY — David J. Laudick, 60, died April 15 at his home in Scott City. He was born on Oct. 1, 1948, in Beaver, the son of John and Helen Hickel Laudick. He attended Hoisington High School, graduating in 1966, and then went on to attend Emporia State University and graduated in 1970. David then received his Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. In 1972 he moved to Scott City from Hoisington and began teaching both English and debate at Scott City High School. David was instrumental in expanding and growing the debate program. In 2001 he received the Kansas Student Council Adviser of The Year Award for 2000-2001. He retired from teaching in 2006.

David was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, taught college courses at the Bryan Education Center in Scott City and assisted in CCD classes at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, where he was a member.

Survivors include one aunt, Lucille Brannon of Great Bend, several cousins, and good friends Mark and Nora Burnett and sons of Scott City. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Father Warren Stecklein officiant. Interment will be at the St. John Church Cemetery in Hoisington. Larry G. Vaughan 1951 - 2009

RUSSELL — Larry G. Vaughan, 57, of Russell, died April 14 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. Larry was born on Nov. 25, 1951, in Manteno, Ill., the son of Arnold S. and Maxine (Toops) Vaughan. Larry grew up in the Osawatomie area for most of his childhood. In 1967 his family moved to Ottawa and in 1970 he graduated from Ottawa High School.

As a young man, he owned and operated a drywall company in the Larned, Jetmore and Great Bend areas. In 1979 he moved to Russell and went to work for the City of Russell. In January 1980 he was promoted to be a water and sewer maintenance man and in July that same year he accepted a position with the Russell Police Department as a patrolman. A couple of years later, in 1982, he was promoted to a Patrolman II and in 1985 he accepted another promotion to police sergeant.

In January of 1988 he was promoted to administrative/patrol sergeant and later that year he accepted the position of police captain. Eleven years later, on Dec. 2, 1999, he was appointed to his current position as the City of Russell chief of police.

Mr. Vaughan was a member of the Lee Turner Lecture Series Advisory Board, Central Kansas Communications Advisory Board, chairman of the Russell County Community Partnership Board, a life member of the NRA and a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He enjoyed archery as a hobby and loved being in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and when he was not working and had nothing else to do you could usually find him hunting or fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving family include his companion, Dot Tammen of the home; daughter Karrie Rutherford of North Highland, Calif.; stepsons Troy Tammen and wife Vickie of Russell and Travis Tammen and wife Christina of Great Bend; brothers Gary Vaughan and wife Terry of Claflin and Bruce Vaughan and wife Beverly of Hutchinson; grandchildren Trevor, Lillian and Camden; stepgrandchildren Monica, Tami, Travis and Katelynn; and five nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, with Father Charles Steier officiating. Honor Guard Rites will be conducted at the Russell City Cemetery following the services. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Charles "Charlie" F. Steinbacher 1938 - 2009

LAWRENCE — A Memorial Mass for Charles “Charlie” F. Steinbacher, 70, of Lawrence, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Great Bend Cemetery in Great Bend. Mr. Steinbacher died April 14 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born on Aug. 29, 1938, in Great Bend, the son of Charles F. and Eulalia Brehm Steinbacher. He was married to Patricia Ann Schroeder. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2007. He was a 1971 graduate from the University of Kansas with his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Before his retirement, he worked as a professional engineer at Evans, Bierly, Hutchison and Associates in Lawrence.

Mr. Steinbacher was a member of the Lawrence Knights of Columbus, Alford-Clark Post No. 852-VFW, the Noon Rotary Club, American Council of Engineering Companies, and the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Survivors include a daughter, Katherin Steinbacher, and husband, Frank McMahon, of Lawrence; a son, Matthew Steinbacher, of Lawrence; two brothers, Pete Steinbacher of Chatsworth, Calif., and Jim Steinbacher of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four sisters, Laura Ann Schenkel of Great Bend, Mary Lou Steinbacher of Lakewood, Colo., Jolene Romme of Burleson, Texas, and Jeanne Hollembeak of Wichita; two stepgranddaughters, Kaci Kesinger and Melanie McMahon, and one stepgreat-granddaughter, Sydney Kesinger. He was preceded in death by a daughter, his parents and a brother.

GARDEN CITY — Leona M. Shirk Cleveland, 93, died April 15 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born June 7, 1915, in McFarland, the daughter of John M. and Margaret Schott Wilkerson. A Garden City resident since 1979, having moved from Friend, she was a retired school secretary. On May 31, 1946, she married Clement M. Shirk in Topeka. He died on Aug. 4, 1973, in Scott City. On Sept. 3, 1983, she married Glenn W. Cleveland at Garden City. He died May 7, 2007.

Mrs. Cleveland was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Finney County Senior Center, TOPS and the Newman Club, all of Garden City, and AARP.

Survivors include two sons, Layne C. Shirk of Great Bend and David C. Shirk of Johnson; one daughter, Karen A. Shirk of Garden City; two stepsons, Terry Cleveland of Roswell, N.M., and Royce Cleveland of Amarillo, Texas; one stepdaughter, Glenda Travis of Red Oak, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Shirk, and two brothers, Charles and John Wilkerson.

Milton Peek 1938 - 2009

LARNED — Milton Peek, 70, died April 13 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. Born June 30, 1938, in Schenectady, N.Y. he was the son of Milton and Mary Coonrod Peek. A longtime resident of Larned, he was a retired maintenance person for Sunrise, Inc., of Larned. He married Jean L. McPhail Miller on June 18, 1979, in Larned. She survives.

Mr. Peek was of the Christian faith and a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Michael Miller of St. Louis, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Tutak of Kingman; a sister, Barbara Clayton of Boone, Ohio; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Melvin Peek; and two sisters, Sandra Dinaio and Betty Aulgur.

Janice "Jan" L. McLeland 1943 - 2009

SATANTA — Janice “Jan” L. McLeland, 66, Satanta, died early Saturday morning, April 11, at the Satanta District Hospital. The daughter of Gilbert and Marie (Sweeney) Wess, she was born March 9, 1943, in Great Bend. She married Larry L. McLeland on July 8, 1967, at Great Bend. They moved from Liberal to Satanta in 1978.

She loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She taught school in Quinter and Hill City, then at the Satanta Grade School for 23 years.

Mrs. McLeland was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Satanta, Haskell County Community Foundation, Haskell County Health Initiative, KNEA, NEA and STA.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Jeff McLeland and wife, Kim, of Pretty Prairie; a daughter. Lisa Hatley and husband, Mark, of Dumas, Texas; a brother, Greg Wess of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Schneider and husband, Craig, of Ellinwood and Pat Wess of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, SIayton, Dylan, Branton, Brett, Danae and Raegan, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Jane M. Koelsch, 56, Lincoln, Neb., died April 12. Born Feb. 25, 1953, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Jean (Truex) Dringmann. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Koelsch was a member of Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Eastridge Presbyterian Women and Eastridge Bell Choir, and T.T.T. Society. She participated in University Faculty Wives for many years.

PAWNEE ROCK — F. LaWanda Hendricks, 85, died April 9 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born April 14, 1923, at the family farm in rural Great Bend, the daughter of Harry and Rose Merten Mausolf. She was a 1941 graduate of Great Bend High School. She married W.H. “Tag” Hendricks on July 18, 1970, at Pawnee Rock. A retired secretary for Petroleum Inc., she also served as City Clerk of Pawnee Rock for 18 years. She had been a resident of Great Bend since 2004, coming from Pawnee Rock.

Mrs. Hendricks was a member of the New Jerusalem Church, Ladies Service Alliance, Half Century Club and a past member of the Desk and Derrick of Great Bend.

Jose Gonzalez Ochoa 1927 - 2009

Jose Gonzalez Ochoa, 81, of Great Bend, died April 9 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born May 28, 1927, at Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Andres and Francisca Gonzalez Ochoa. He married Victoria Garcia. A resident of Great Bend for seven years, coming from Mexico, he was a farmer.

Mr. Ochoa was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; six sons, RiCardo, RoJelio, Mario, Armando, Leopoldo and Jaime; three daughters, Carmela, Reyina and Cecilia; three brothers, Oscar, Esmael and Rodolfo; two sisters, Andrea and Esperansa; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by several sons, daughters, brothers and sisters.

Vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Floyd McKinney officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Irvin L. Toepfer 1925 - 2009

FORT DODGE — Irvin L. Toepfer, 84, died April 8 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born Feb. 7, 1925, at Hays, the son of William and Celestine Toepfer. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy, Hays. A Fort Dodge resident for the past nine years, moving from Leavenworth, he was a retired auto parts salesman. He served in the United States Army during World War II in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines, earning the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Mr. Toepfer was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Couch and husband Warren, Great Bend, and Linda Kohlrus and husband Terry and Shelly Kohlrus and husband Tim, Sr., all of Ellis; a stepson, Terry Neubauer and wife Janet, Berthoud, Colo.; a stepdaughter, DeLana Neubauer, Lafayette, Colo.; two brothers, Lyle Toepfer, Hays, and Larry Toepfer, California; a sister, Mildred Ruder, Hays; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bob, Billy and Vernon Toepfer, and four sisters, Laura Mae Arnold, Lillian Ward, Cecilia Bickle and Janet Toepfer.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney, with Father Don Pfannenstiel presiding and full military rites by Fort Riley. There will be no public visitation. The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Soldiers Home in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Gavin E. Neuforth, 22, of Great Bend, died April 8 in rural Great Bend. He was born Aug. 26, 1986, at Great Bend, the son of Harold Eugene and Eva Kohls Neuforth. He was a mechanic for Damm Truck and Tire Repair, Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was of the Christian faith. He had a passion for taking things apart to figure out exactly how they worked.

Survivors include his parents, Gene and Eva Neuforth of the home; grandparents, Jack and Ramona (Kohls) Durbin of Great Bend; a sister, Tori Stukey and husband Chris of Salina; aunts and uncles, Elaine and Rod Brown of Port Byron, Ill., Terry and Mike Bigheart of Enid, Okla., Peggy and John Bartholomew of Yukon, Okla., Phil and Kathy Kohls of Garden City and Lana and Mike Penney, Doug and Colleen Kohls and Kent and Terri Kohls, all of Great Bend; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin Kohls and Harold and Doris Neuforth.

Elizabeth A. Moore 1938 - 2009

LARNED — Elizabeth A. Moore, 71, died April 8 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Kansas City, the daughter of Samuel L. and Thelma Caro Shepherd. On June 3, 1954, she married Bishop Moore at Larned. He survives. A lifetime resident of Larned, she was a supervisor in the Dietary Department at Larned State Hospital. After her retirement she was a loving childcare provider for many area children.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the Escue Chapel, Red Hat Society and Black Heritage Club, all of Larned. She was the superintendent, teacher and lay leader for Sunday School, a stewardess, a missionary, a choir member and a Trustee Board member, all of the church.

Other survivors include two sons, Anthony Moore and wife Cheryl, Larned, and Bishop Moore Jr. (“B.J.” ) and wife Lillian, Wichita; a daughter, Cathy Jean Evans and husband George, Wichita; three brothers, John Shepherd and Tom Shepherd, both of Larned, and Bruce Shepherd, Wichita; three sisters, Sammie Perkins, Kitty Clark and Billie Broils, all of Larned; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Hill presiding. Doris Pauline Boyd 1919 - 2009

Doris Pauline Boyd, 89, of Great Bend, died April 7 at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. She was born June 5, 1919, at Miami, Fla., the daughter of Hubert Winfield Crawford and Pauline. She married Elmer William Boyd on Nov. 30, 1951, in Miami, Fla. He died Sept. 12, 1977. A homemaker, she had been a resident of Great Bend since 1951, coming from Miami. She had also lived a short time in Denver.

Mrs. Boyd had attended Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Michael William Boyd; a daughter, Sharon Stevenson, Great Bend; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Lee Boyd, and by three sisters, Mary Ruth Marcus, Helen Boyd and Margaret Boyd.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with Father Reginald A. Urban officiant. Inurnment will be at a later date at Great Bend Cemetery. Ronald E. Grover 1946 - 2009

JOHNSON — Ronald E. Grover, 62, of Johnson, died April 7 at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson. He was born June 2, 1946, in Enid, Okla., the son of Lloyd and Vera (Stafford) Grover. On Aug. 25, 1964, he married Frances Brown at Clayton, N.M. She survives. Ron grew up and graduated from high school in Springfield, Colo. Ron had lived and farmed in Johnson since 1966. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He was also a fan of KU Basketball and enjoyed fishing, camping and going to the lake.

Mr. Grover attended the First Baptist Church in Johnson.

Other survivors include two sons, Wesley Grover and wife Karen of Johnson and Kyle Grover and wife Tami of Hays; one brother, Gerald Grover of Claremore, Okla.; two sisters, Beverly Aragon of Fort Worth, Texas, and Winona McCormick of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren, Mitchell Grover, Leighton Grover, Tressidy Grover and Tia Grover; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, with the Rev. Robert Warner and the Rev. Dave Kaufmann presiding. Carroll Frank 1935 - 2009

Carroll Frank, 73, of Great Bend, died April 8 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. He was born Oct. 15, 1935, at Chase, the son of Raymond and Delphia Forbes Frank. He married Judy Martens. She died in 1996. He then married Marilyn Leuenberger on May 13, 2000. She survives. He was a carpenter for Custom Floor Designs. He was a resident of Great Bend for 23 years, coming from Ellinwood.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, of the home, include a son, David Frank and wife Debbie, of Wichita; four stepsons, Carl (Butch) Leuenberger, Layne Leuenberger and Troy Leuenberger, all of Great Bend, and Aaron Leuenberger of Hays; a daughter, Debbie Stegman and husband Robert, of Lyons; a stepdaughter, Lori Cooley of Great Bend; a sister, Letha Helms of Chouteau, Okla.; five grandchildren, Sarah Williams and James Frank, both of Wichita, Christi Weis of Garland, Texas, Lance Stegman of Gardner and Lee Stegman of San Diego, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Loren Frank, and a sister, Wilma Scheufler.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Ellinwood, with Pastor Ray Willis officiant. Inurnment will be at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. Lucille Ann Quigg 1921 - 2009

Lucille Ann Quigg, 87, of Great Bend, died April 6 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Sept. 19, 1921, at Redwing, she was the daughter of Joseph and Louise Frenzel Schremmer. She married Howard Joseph Quigg on Nov. 30, 1959, at Albuquerque, N.M. He died Jan. 4, 1999. She was a former department store clerk for Montgomery Ward and TG&Y. She was a lifetime area resident.

Mrs. Quigg was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, a Senior Center volunteer and had an active interest in Shriner and Masonic activities.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Quigg of Wichita and Michael Quigg and wife Lydia of Mercedes, Texas; a brother, Wilfred Schremmer and wife Cecilia of Great Bend; and a sister, Gladys Klug of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by four brothers, including an infant, Thomas Schremmer, Joe Schremmer and wife Teresa, Victor Schremmer and wife Katie, and Oscar Schremmer; and two sisters, Louise Gerstenkorn and husband Phillip and Eleanor Steiner and husband Julius; and a brother-in-law, Edward Klug.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Michael Prescott officiant. Inurnment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Dorothy L. Scheideman 1932 - 2009

Dorothy L. Scheideman, 76, of Great Bend, died April 7 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. She was born Sept. 3, 1932, in rural Rush County, the daughter of Walter and Charlotte Fyler Renner. She married Kenneth Scheideman on May 8, 1955, at La Crosse. He died Aug. 7, 2002. She was a telephone operator for 38 years at La Crosse, Great Bend and Colorado Springs, Colo., retiring from AT&T. She was a resident of Rush and Barton counties most of her life.

Mrs. Scheideman was a member of First Christian Church, Great Bend, and Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda K. Boyer and husband William of Springfield, Mass.; a grandson, Jason Boyer of Springfield, Mass.; and a great-granddaughter, Leilah Boyer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Renner and Vernon Renner, and three sisters, Ruth Wilson, Alice MacArthur and Barbara Nelson.

James Richard Nairn 1937 - 2009

James Richard Nairn, 71, of Great Bend, died April 6 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, after battling cancer for two years. He was born May 26, 1937, at Great Bend, the son of James Gerald and Martha Freda Evers Nairn. He married Margaret Ann Yeager on June 16, 1963, at Larned. He was an instructor and the chair of the Business Department at Barton Community College, where he worked for 30 years. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Fort Hays State University. He was raised in Pawnee Rock, attended Fort Hays State University and moved to Kismet for his first teaching assignment. In 1969 James moved to Great Bend to begin his career at Barton Community College.

Mr. Nairn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Great Bend.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, James Michael Nairn and wife Wendy of Great Bend; three daughters, Kristin Washington of Broken Arrow, Okla., Kelli Dawson and husband Kent of Fayetteville, N.C., and Jennifer Reed and husband Kevin of Yukon, Okla.; two sisters, Sandra Haun of Larned and Linda Slavik of Pawnee Rock; and eight grandchildren, Tyler Nairn, Hillary Nairn, Taylor Washington, Kelsey Dawson, Karlie Dawson, Madison Reed, Blake Reed and Preston Reed. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Reed.

Leroy Adam (Roy) King 1923 - 2009

NESS CITY — Leroy Adam (Roy) Krug, 85, passed away March 23 in Ness City. Born to Adam A. and Mary Elizabeth (Herdt) Krug in Russell on Oct. 24, 1923, Roy was the youngest of three siblings, with his sister Tabea Eleonore and brother Raymond Harold preceding him in death. Roy grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School. He then served his country as a second lieutenant in the United States of America Air Force as a bombardier in World War II. After military service Roy resumed his studies at the University of Kansas and received his degree in Business.

Roy was married to Marjorie Cochran on Oct. 28, 1945, in Fort Morgan, Colo. Margie preceded him in death in March of 1984.

Roy, Margie and their daughter Beverly moved to Ness City in 1948. This is where Roy started his career as a banker, eventually becoming president and CEO of the First State Bank of Ness City.

Roy is survived by his daughter Beverly Erb and husband Stan of Bazine; granddaughters Lindsey Young of Hays and Michelle Woydziak and husband Paul, and great-grandson Ryan Woydziak, of Hoisington.

Memorial service will be held April 16 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ness City. Memorial contributions may be made to The Ness County Bank Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Loretta C. McFadden 1932 - 2009

LARNED — Loretta C. McFadden, 77, died April 4 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Larned. She was born Jan. 3, 1932, at Burdett, the daughter of Earl Glen and Ethel May McLeod Webster. A Larned resident since 1956, moving from Leadville, Colo., she was an owner and beautician at Bob’s Barber and Beauty Shop, Larned. On Aug. 31, 1952, she married Robert Lawrence McFadden at Rozel. He died Feb. 2, 2007.

Mrs. McFadden was a member of the First Baptist Church, Larned Country Club and Ladies Golf Association, all of Larned, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include four sons, Robert E., of Peck, David W., of Larned, and W. Craig and D. Kevin, both of Austin, Texas; a brother, Robert Hadley Webster, Euless, Texas; a sister, Theora May Sooby, Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren, Robert J., Jamie, Justin and Jared McFadden, and Heaven Leland; and three great-grandchildren, Skylar and Aydenn Leland and Dawson McFadden. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Glenn Henry Webster and William Ira Webster.

Chris Crane 1952 - 2009

LARNED — Chris Crane, 56, died April 2, of Multiple System Atrophy, at his home in Larned. He was born July 5, 1952, in Larned, the son of A.G. and Gloria A. Umberger Crane. He was a welder and farmer. He graduated from Larned High School in 1970, and attended KSU. He was an SSDC member; he served on the Fort Larned USD 495 School Board from 1989 to 1993, and was president in 1992, and also was a former Zoning Board member. On May 19, 1973, he married Kathie D. Vratil at Larned. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Shawn and wife Karen, Great Bend; daughter, Jessica Conner and husband Joshua, Lawrence; two brothers, Alan, Larned, and David, Great Bend; and two grandchildren, Jacob Crane and Brandon Crane.

HOISINGTON — Daniel G. Hendon, 76, died April 3 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born June 26, 1932, at Haleyville, Ala., the son of James Sullivan and Dora Mae “Heath” Hendon. He married Peggy J. Wheeler on Feb. 6, 1961, at Elko, Nev. She died Dec. 3, 1905. He was retired from a career as a welder for American Bridge Company. He was a resident of Hoisington since 1995, coming from Beaver, Utah. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include three daughters, Laura Hendon and husband Darrell of Olmitz, Kena Brown and husband Steve of Pleasanton, Calif., and Danette Anderson and husband Charles of Twin Falls, Idaho; and grandchildren, Dietre Stevenson of Olmitz, Arthur and Stephanie Brown, and Gerald and Shelby Anderson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Anderson.

Beverly Jeanne Phillips Brummett

Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service to celebrate the life of Beverly Jeanne Phillips Brummett, who passed away Oct. 29, 2008, in Elgin, Ill.

She is survived by two daughters, Holliday Brummett Milby-Hardin of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mellody Brummett Gartley of Elgin, Ill.; a sister, Joyce Essmiller of Great Bend; granddaughters Blythe Collett Milby of Elgin, Ill., and Rachel Colleen Gartley of Manhattan, N.Y.; and nieces Jan Bolick of Carmel, Ind., ArNell Briel of Great Bend, Jadean Takao of Kailua, Hawaii, and Nell Ann Arvites of Anchorage, Alaska.

The service will take place at the Great Bend Cemetery Mausoleum at 11 a.m. on Monday. A luncheon and time of remembrance will be held following the service at the Highland Hotel’s Gold Room.

Harvey E. Moore 1927 - 2009

HAYS — Harvey E. Moore, 82, of Hays, died April 1 at the Hays Good Samaritan Center. Born March 4, 1927, at Hays, he was the son of Elmer M. and Ludwina (Paul) Moore. He married Mary Dreiling on May 12, 1947, in Hays. He was a consultant in the oil fields and a farmer.

Mr. Moore was a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home in Hays; a son, Harvey A. Moore and his wife, Diane, of Great Bend; a daughter, Paula J. VanWinkle and her husband, Kenneth R., of St. John; a brother, Stanley Moore of Los Alamos, N. M.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dale Curtis Moore, in 1987.

Parish vigil service will be at 6 p.m. today at the Hays Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial with military honors by the Navy Funeral Detail and the Hays VFW and American Legion will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. A memorial has been established with Hospice of the Hays Medical Center in his name and memory.

Elizabeth Ann Ringering 1907 - 2009

HILLSBORO — Elizabeth Ann Ringering, 101, died March 31 in Hillsboro. Born April 19, 1907, in rural Inman, she was the daughter of Cornelius Thiessen and Helena (Unruh) Thiessen. She married Oliver K. Ringering on May 12, 1960. He died in 1985. She was a children’s ministry worker.

Mrs. Ringering was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Edgar Sturtz of Ellinwood; a sister-in-law, Hilda Thiessen of Hillsboro; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver K. Ringering; and two daughters, Grace Sturtz and Joyce Ringering.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion with Pastor Joshua Wesner officiating. Burial will be at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Joe Foelgner, Jr. 1925 - 2009

Joe Foelgner, Jr., 83, of Great Bend, died at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, on April 1. He was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Rush County, the son of Joe Foelgner, Sr., and Emma Becker Foelgner. Joe married Donna Wesley in 1950 in Clayton, N.M. They were divorced in 1974. A lifetime resident of the Great Bend area, he was an oil-field consultant for many of the local oil-production companies.

Mr. Foelgner was a member of the Christian faith.

Survivors include one son, Brent Foelgner, Great Bend; one brother, Vernon Foelgner of Florida; one sister, Ida Fanshier of Great Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Mulder.

A graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Great Bend Cemetery, with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiant. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until noon today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Patty L. Zegler 1931 - 2009

CLAFLIN — Patty L. Zegler, 78, died March 31 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born Feb. 27, 1931, at Ardmore, Okla., the daughter of Paul Evans and Lidabell Evans. She retired from a career as a schoolteacher after 50 years. She was a resident of Claflin for four years, coming from Wilson.

Ms. Zegler was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin; of Scorsis, Wilson; president of Teacher’s Union in Michigan; member of VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, Garden City; and volunteered after retirement for CASA, Garden City.

Survivors include a daughter, Raye Harmon, and her husband Richard, of Claflin; a son, Robert Zegler and his wife Hiromi of Torrance, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Zegler of Attica, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Lina, Shelby, Eddie and Michael Zegler. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Zegler, and two brothers.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, with Sister Andre officiant. The body has been bequeathed to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Raymond A. Schneweis 1927 - 2009

HOISINGTON — Raymond A. Schneweis, 82, of Hoisington, died April 1 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born Jan. 4, 1927, in rural Claflin, the son of Walter and Ann Klug Schneweis. Raymond married Cecilia Demel on June 1, 1948, in Odin. She survives. He was a farmer and mechanic for Spears and Lehning, Karst Automotive and Rome’s Appliance. He had been a resident of Hoisington since 1991, coming from the Redwing area.

Mr. Schneweis served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and VFW Post 7428, both of Hoisington, and the Knights of Columbus of Odin.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, of the home, include four sons, Ron Schneweis and Kevin Schneweis, both of Hoisington, and Bill Schneweis and wife Kayla, and Keith Schneweis and wife Sue, all of Monument, Colo.; two daughters, Lois Ritterhouse and husband Bob of Albert and Mary Sell and husband Steve of Great Bend; two brothers, Bernard Schneweis of Great Bend and Jim Schneweis of Hoisington; 10 grandchildren, Kent L. Nettleingham and wife Trina, Sara Nettleingham, Brian Schneweis, Derek Schneweis, Brandi Schneweis, Nick Schneweis, Jason Sell, Jessica Sell, Katie Schneweis and Mark Burchfiel; seven great-grandchildren, Landon Burchfiel, Logan Burchfiel, Kendra Burchfiel, Olivia Nettleingham, Parker Nettleingham, Jackson Nettleingham and Carter Nettleingham; and one great-great-grandchild, Sophia Burchfiel. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Schneweis, and one daughter, Suzy Nettleingham. Also by one brother, Tom Schneweis, and two sisters, Dorothy Meyeres and Mary Welch.

A Vigil Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Father Dwight Birket officiant. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Odin. Military graveside honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7428 and American Legion Post 286 of Hoisington. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Elmer Edwin Zorn 1928 - 2009

HOISINGTON — Elmer Edwin Zorn, 80, died April 1 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. He was born April 19, 1928, at Odin, the son of Ferdinand and Anna Catherine Kirmer Zorn. He married Emily Ann Podlena on Oct. 7, 1952, at Wilson. She survives. He retired as foreman for the Barton County Road and Bridge Department after 37 years. He was a resident of Hoisington since 1956, coming from Great Bend. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Zorn was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 7428 and American Legion Post No. 286.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, of Hoisington, include three sons, Dennis Zorn and wife Brenda of Westminster, Colo., Ronald Zorn and wife Carol of Queens Creek, Ariz., and James Zorn and wife Donna of Great Bend; four brothers, including his twin brother Alvin Zorn of Smith Center, Leonard Zorn of Claflin, Ed Zorn of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gerald Zorn of Great Bend; four sisters, Tillie Schremmer and Ann Schremmer, both of Hoisington, Marion Schroeder of Newton and Helen Holliday of Inman; five grandchildren, Eric, Alycia, Zachary, Gabriel and Matthew Zorn, and a great-grandchild, Mason Zorn. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Bernard and Richard Zorn, and two sisters, Margaret Steiner and Eleanor Hickel.

Gertrude Marie Fisher 1914 - 2009

LARNED — Gertrude Marie Fisher, 95, died March 29 at Mercy Medical Center, Rogers, Ark. She was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Barton County, the daughter of Otto R. and Marie Zajic Harzman. A resident of Rogers since April 1, 1989, moving from Larned, she was a retired secretary at the Larned State Hospital. She loved to travel with her husband Adrian, visiting 49 states, and she was an avid gardener.

On April 8, 1960, she married Adrian Walter Fisher at Alva, Okla. He survives.

Other survivors include two grandchildren, David Sprout, Wichita, and Deb Cauble, Larned; and three great-grandsons, Jason Cauble, Larned, Michael Cauble, Wichita, and David Kendall, Wichita. She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard E. Sprout.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Dan Lundgren presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned. Dale Leon Harrison 1968 - 2009

JARRELL, Texas — Dale Leon Harrison, 40, died March 28 at his home in Jarrell, Texas. He was born April 20, 1968, to Gary “Chuck” and Kay Harrison in San Diego, Calif. A graduate of Fairfield High School, Langdon, Kan., and Pittsburg State University, Dale was a 1986 United States National Award winner for leadership service. He was a plastics engineer for Pactiv Corp in Temple, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Harvinder and two daughters Jacquelin, 15, and Brooklyn, 6, along with both of his parents. He is also survived by brothers, Dean of Otis, Don and wife Loretta, also of Otis, and Dan and wife Kim of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Tammy and husband Dave Moore of Nickerson, Treva and husband Todd Koob of Albany, Ore., and many nieces and nephews.

Dale was the youngest son of Chuck and Kay. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his free time fishing, hunting and riding dirt bikes with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, son, father, brother and friend.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 800 N. Main, Hutchinson, with Pastor Stephen Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Sylvia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
